DMA designed the Navis Café in a shell space within the new Wex building in Portland. Clean lines and a modern maritime aesthetic greets visitors from both the office building and the street, with bar and table seating for 49.
The curved wood ceiling gives one a sense of being in a boat and the curved bar’s countertop evokes the rugged Maine coastline. The steel grid of the bar front is reminiscent of lobster traps, without the smell.
The interior design and lighting by Jeanne Handy Designs compliments the simple and efficient architecture.
