Brunswick, Maine

Architecture: David Matero Architecture
Structural Engineering: Casco Bay Engineering
Builder: Alexander and Allen

The location of this Brunswick location outweighed the aesthetics of this 1990’s modular construction.

DM/A transformed this single-story house to an energy-efficient modern farmhouse with open and light-filled spaces for a family of four. A new envelope involved adding an inside stud bay to create a double-thick wall, new triple-glazed windows by Intus, and an insulated ceiling to R-60.

The Re-Modular achieves net-zero energy consumption with solar PV panels mounted to the south-facing roof. Two air-source heat pumps and a heat recovery ventilator is all this is needed to comfortably heat this 3,000 sf home.
