After completing an addition/renovation of the clients waterfront cottage on China Lake, the client turned to DMA to design a gentleman’s barn on their nearby meadow.

The owner had specific needs for the large spaces and already a clear vision of the design, but asked DMA for help on aesthetics, proportions, and fenestration ideas. The result is a large double-gabled barn for both utility vehicles and entertainment space with antique truck display.

Spaces include large entertainment areas with a large kitchen and dining table, sleeping rooms and lofts, as well as play areas and utility functions. The owner, recently retired from a construction company, was well-versed in earthmoving and landscaping and located the barn to take advantage of the meadow and nearby pond.

The post and beam by Kennebec Timber Framing is a spectacular interior design feature and compliments the detailing by the contractor, Cioppa Construction.
