An isolated lot off Maqoit Bay was the perfect backdrop for this quiet, small, oceanfront cottage. An old cabin was torn down and a portion of the footprint was utilized to create a small and efficient cottage with a total building area of 1,700 sf.
As one enters the front door they are invited with a view through the entire house into a generous screen porch. Although small, the open concept plan and windows with a view give a sense of the space being larger then it is.
DMA maximized the allowable volume to create high spaces only were necessary. A loft is tucked away into the attic, and a second floor bedroom has a reverse dormer to reduce volume and add natural daylight and views.
