Harpswell, Maine
Architecture: David Matero Architecture
Structural Engineering: Casco Bay Engineering
Builder: Oceanside Builders
On a rolling site with far-away views of Harpswell Sound, this 2,400 sf house is sited to maximize views and space, and bring in natural daylight. Various indoor and outdoor rooms with wonderful views allow year-round seating and entertaining potential.
Double-thick walls and triple-glazed windows, along with ducted heat pumps create a very comfortable and energy-efficient home. Supplemental heat is provided by the large fieldstone fireplace in the living room. The dining room features a curved Douglas Fir ceiling.
The light throughout the house is very welcoming, and unique features were designed just for the owners, such as the hidden wine storage under the stairs.
