DMA utilized the same ground floor garages, but connected them with new entrance, stair tower, and screen porch. The existing guest rooms above the garages were completely renovated and updated, and new dormers helped bring in natural daylight and views of the main house and lake.
The exterior aesthetics relates to the main house, but the interior is modernized with clean lines emphasizing the cathedral ceilings and sloping ceilings. The great room is light and airy and the loft is a wonderful space for grandkids.
The screen porch acts as a meeting space between the upper floors and also helps to separate the main studio from the two bedrooms above the smaller garage.
The boat house was also renovated at the same time. The same footprint and roof height were required to be utilized due to shoreland zoning restrictions. The landscape expertly ties both projects together and helps maintain the stormwater runoff on the property.
