The first home of an 8-lot development in Brunswick, an energy-efficient home with proper solar orientation and an open, contemporary plan is a perfect home for this family of three.

The Douglas Fir sunshades allow solar gain in the winter but will block the direct sun in the summer. R-38 SIP walls and a roof insulated to R-60, combined with an efficient gas fired wall-mounted boiler and heat recovery ventilator, creates a very welcome home environment. Special attention was made to design a home with low maintenance and long-standing materials such as a metal roof and fiber cement siding.

Designed to be adaptable for the future, a screen porch, first-floor master bedroom suite, and garage can be added on without disruption to the existing house. A blog throughout construction documents the Lean Too House.
