Designed to compliment the mid-century lakeside main house nearby, this 1,700 sf guest house hugs the sloping site and provides wonderful views of Cobbosseecontee Lake in Monmouth. DMA worked within very strict shoreland zoning restrictions to capture as much space and building height as possible, which resulted in a multi-level cottage that evokes the natural landscape.
Within this small cottage are two bedrooms, nursery, and a very cute bunk room kids and visiting families. With large windows offering wonderful views and bringing in natural light, the spaces feel expansive. The landscape design tastefully grounds the cottage and provides delightful outdoor spaces.
The design of the cottage took into account a robust envelope which helped reduce the size of the mechanical system. The blower door test during construction came in at an impressive 0.67 ACH 50!
